Gunpowder Mill Penny Royal Gunpowder Mills are situated in an old four acre quarry near the centre of Launceston. Faithfully recreated, they depict colonial mills in production as in the early 19th century. Set among gardens, lake and waterfall are the arsenal and cannon foundry with their furnaces and two cannon boring mills and lathe. Around the complex runs a canal, down which 14 gunpowder barges carry passengers through the underground mills, past the foundry and waterfall. |
