Cockle Boats At the Penny Royal Gunpowder Mill there are many small boats - and the little Cockle Boats are quite fascinating. When the Gunpowder Mill was first established, designer Roger Smith had a dream of children rowing out on the lake in little boats. He remembered from childhood days in Wales and England that children loved to gather the cockles (shellfish) from the tidal mudflats and sandbars in a small dinghy. |
